Our eyes are the only stars
Under this blanket of nighttime pitch,
Yet we find each other here again and again.
Our delicate selves touch firmly, surely,
Tracing our merging outlines each night
In my dreams

I'm a middle-aged nobody breathing one day at a time in Ontario, Canada.
This tiny corner of the Internet is an outlet for unmasking random thoughts and creations surrounding life in general, adventures in budō, and any other topics that come to a ridiculous mind.
"Through journaling, your voice cannot go unheard."
Our eyes are the only stars
Under this blanket of nighttime pitch,
Yet we find each other here again and again.
Our delicate selves touch firmly, surely,
Tracing our merging outlines each night
In my dreams

I, who never pray,
Pray silently today
In my mind’s voice,
In my simple native English
Lying here alone on my side.
With no reverence in my posture
And only honesty in my heart
I make a wish,
Saying to any powers that be:
Damp heat in late spring:
Anger can’t last forever
Under smoke and ash
The last flickering flame was stamped on
Smothered and choked
We wave the last creeping tendrils away
As if swatting flies
…
…
An idea, a wish, for a new chapter
That never gets written
Time is lost, love goes unanswered
And unanswered love
Burns through you
All the way into the ground
…
On and on and on and on and on and on
I listen, praising myself internally
For remembering to keep my mouth shut
How smoother these cogs turn
By the grease of my silence

Somehow, through that turbulent mix of…
Across time and space
A beloved favourite has come back to me
I may still be broken
Some pieces are still glued at the edges
But today everything is in place again
…
Wanderer returns:
I wonder how my face now
reflects in his eyes
Journey concluded:
Has travel changed the view
in my direction
An important friend returns from a long journey.
A rarity in my life yesterday
I watched a new life
I studied it intently
I studied all her tiny-isms
Like the edges of her closed eyelids
Those smooth closed eyelids, their warm olive tones
Bringing to mind her mother’s lineage
The shape of her nose, wide and flat
Like the ocean her ancestors crossed to be here
