Waking in the night
This world under sea of stars
…
With apprehension unknown…
Woefully lacking
Shame it’s all I have to give
Love that’s not enough
Rolling down steep hills
Friend returns for brief visit
…
I’m the only one
To see the proof left behind
…
Words so dangerous
My mind hides in shadows cast
By self awareness
Confused heart beats on
Waiting for the solitude
I don’t really want
Fading to nothing
The desire to disappear
Fulfilled upon sleep
My elusive self
No matter how hard I search
Still a mystery
Can they see in me
I wonder, my truest self
In ways I cannot
To live peacefully
I must not be throwing stones
In this house of bone
Coughs from my sickbed
I look around, read my past
And still find such joy
2 a.m. fearful
Confused mind jumbling thoughts
Ask them why they’re here
Written upon waking in the middle of the night anxious and maybe a little confused.
